        A prestigious and picturesque town located on the Pacific Ocean in Southern Orange County, Laguna Beach is a premier artistic haven, offering a lovely beach, pretty downtown, a mixture of older and new homes, as well as cultural and creative resources which have long characterized this city. Established as an artists' colony in the early 2Oth century, residents of Laguna Beach are still devoted to the arts. Downtown and throughout the community you will find many small shops, art galleries and activities which emphasize painting and visual arts. An art museum, the Art Institute of Southern California, and three very popular summer art festivals all call Laguna Beach home. Housing in Laguna Beach offers home buyers a mix of the old and the new.

        Homes on the shore have a beach-cottage style with residents enjoying striking sunsets and views of the water, coves and small bays in the area.         Schools in Laguna Beach are served by the Laguna Beach Unified School District. Rankings are generally in the 8Oth and 9Oth percentiles on a statewide comparison (in the top 20 percent), and in 1996 Laguna Beach High School was named a Blue Ribbon School, an award for overall excellence.

        In addition to the artistic lifestyle that endures in Laguna Beach, the city offers many other recreational activities and types of entertainment. There is a Boys and Girls Club, numerous restaurants, local library, Seniors center, and numerous community-civic activities (including a foundation for schools, opera league, ballet group, chamber music, and performing arts support for schools).

Special taxes have been created to fund parks and maintain much of the open space left in the area. Much land has been set aside for regional parks, and there is an enclosed park for dogs. A variety of outdoor sports are available, including scuba diving, ocean kayaking, surfing, hiking, equestrian activities (there are lots of horse trails), bird watching, and golfing.
